what?
Top dressing is the process of adding a thin layer of organic matter to the surface of a lawn usually when aeration, scarification and/or over seeding has taken place. Regular top dressing is common on ornamental lawns and sports pitches such as golf greens, bowling lawns and football pitches.
Top dressing must be carried out when the grass is actively growing to enable full recovery. We can apply and spread top dressing via hand, a pedestrian spreader or tractor-mounted spreader depending on the size of the area.
We currently use a top dressing which is derived from composted green waste. So not only is it good for the environment, it provides a valuable source of nutrients for your soil too.
